Okay, folk here I am in all my glory!!
You probably wonder what the f*ck is, barbie couture??
Barbie Couture is a beauty business located in a small country town 4 hours away from Sydney, Australia.
I am qualified in makeup artistry, Brazilian waxing, and xo weft hair extensions. My salon is the first in central west NSW that is doing xo weft hair extensions. I live about half an hour from Dubbo and about an hour from Orange. I am still doing hairdressing certificate 3, which is taking me longer than most people. unfortunately, some events in life have taken me off course during my studies. I rather not discuss them here. I haven't finished my hair extension certificate because of the same reason and the fact I don't have my Ps, so I have to rely on someone else to drive me around due to being on my Ls. The joys of learning to drive hey! But there is a short course going around Tafe which I am excited to start. It's a certificate in barbering. It's not Certificate 3 but it's the start of getting my barbering qualifications. I want to be able to cater to all male and female clients. I decided to start a blog for the simple fact to hopefully get a little closer to my clients and maybe draw in new clients. Something to help get my name out there as I am only starting out in beauty. I did start makeup artistry in 2016 but found it too difficult without a license.
Who am I??
My name is Amanda; you may have seen my beauty posts in the local groups on Facebook. I am 35 years old, and I have been trying to break into the beauty business for years since I was 18. It's not easy living in town, and not having a license for many years doesn't help either. Combine that with the local gossip lovers. I used to live in Sydney but moved here in 2005 when my dad retired from the army. We didn't want to live in Sydney, and Dad had this town in mind since this is where Mum comes from. I am the youngest of 4 kids, and I am an Aquarius. My background is in fine art, and I thought I would have a career in art, but that hasn't happened due to my passion for beauty. I discovered my passion back when I was around 14 when I met a young girl who loved makeup, and we used to apply makeup to ourselves, it's then I found my passion for it and didn't know you could make it as a career until I was in my 20s.
Things were different back then. You couldn't do online courses, so like many who got stuck doing other courses, thanks to job providers always breathing down your neck. I had no choice but to study or get put into a job I didn't like. So, when online courses came out, I did a makeup artistry course and never looked back. I have been hooked on online courses because the support is better, no bitchiness and you can rewatch the video as many times as you like. It was fantastic! If you're an independent learner like me, you'll appreciate the ease of online courses.
Feel free to follow my blog, I know this post is long, but I just got in the blogging zone and couldn't stop. Also, if you haven't already, I like my Facebook Barbie Couture.
Yours truly, Amanda.
